Pros

The people I work with at the branch level are great.

Cons

No raises. This is the sort of company that keeps your hours at 19 instead of giving you that one extra hour that will force them to pay you holiday and sick time.

Pros

You really do get to meet incredible people working in a public library. Most of the time work feels meaningful.

Cons

RCLS is owned (?) by a third party, LSSI and they are running us into the ground. There's no consideration for individual branches and branch issues. They're cutting people like crazy (managers and employees) and making some manage two branches instead of one manager per branch and as you can imagine it hurts its employees.

Pros

Coworkers are awesome (branch specific). We work as a team for our community in a multitude of ways such as research, technology, customer support, grants, internships, mentoring programs, outreach & events, marketing, collection management, and more... Never a dull day.

Cons

Minimum wage and upper level degrees needed for advancement (no reason to stick around since a lot more money and sustainability would be achieved elsewhere). Work experience is irrelevant when it comes to pay.
