The so called best videogame company in italy
Pros
Fast growing company owned by a french publisher. Transparent salary policy since they were all available on the company drive. Quarter review with an HR specialist whom is apparently also a psychologist, and won't miss an occasion to remember you that when she will judge your mental sanity. Yearly distribution of the growing company's stocks. Beautiful office in the center of Milan. 5€ meal tickets that will be very hepful to have lunch in one of the most expensive city center of Europe. Best QA of Italy, who also dedicates himself to write an insightful review of the game industry every week. Occasional distribution of the company's (Nacon) video games for employees, which is amazing to have some of the top and most anticipated video games for free, such as Tourist Trophy, Bee Simulator or Pro Cycling Manager. Periodic reviews with your N+1 during which you really can speak your mind without any risk to be object of mobbing afterward. Excellent training policy with very high end courses that really aim the key skills for our jobs (I unfortunately missed the photography one, being a project manager in a 55 people team now, it would have been super handy). Generally speaking there is an excellent distinction between personal and professional life: after talking several time about my handicap, they never wanted to take it into account. On a more serious note, so far not a great departure with the first shipped title, but plenty of room and capacity to do better for the next round. Generally speaking, coworkers are very friendly and willing to help eachothers. Some are very dedicated to their craft and will provide excellent advices and knowledge for your future in the industry (no irony here). Overall a good company with some great job opportunities, despite my criticism, still has to polish up its culture though.
Cons
Based on my very own experience: Confusing prioritization of expenses: apparently a 15€/hr english course is too expensive, but not an hostess service for the company dinner. Still has a loooong way to go about inclusion matters: I've been asked if i wanted to have sexual rapports with a female collaborator to destress her, among dozens of other exemples. Being the only foreigner from the same nationality of the owner, the manager use to talk to me with an inadequate ton of voice after the meetings, just to yell at a french (but did excuse himself afterward) Most of the core team come from a company that they call toxic, but reproduce the exact same toxic schemes (like reporting what is said in the coffee room to see if one is speaking about the manager, on the manager demand); putting responsability on each other. Bad communication in the company, both on operative and company related topics. Overall, an old fashioned kind of centralized management which one can likes but I did not.
