Pros

Co-workers from around the world generally care about their quality of work and company success.

Cons

Executive management is sales-based and with sales experience only. No operational experience and operational foundation is in place. Prospective new hires are sought out that have the same thought processes and refrain from hiring those with different ideas.

Pros

The people you work with become life long connections and the experience you gain is paramount in the logistics career path.

Cons

I swear I don't even know where to start. In my time spent with RIM one supervisor in particular made my life and everyone else's life that wasn't in this person's "special clique" a living hell. I can't count on both hands and feet how many times I was insulted by this person with statements I could have outright sued this company for, but since the founders of this company have their heads deeply planted where the creator did not intend sunshine, this person will remain in a position that she has no business in. Another individual has turned this company into what I look at his experiment to see how many employees they can lose before they have to close the doors. In my time with RIM I watched 50 or more people resign or be fired from this company all because of the new polices implemented by the above mentioned person. Before I left the pay was below industry standard, raises were frozen with a possible raise increase of 3% annually if one was to be offered a raise again, and the worst part is they want you to be happy about the horrible treatment. The last thing I want to say about the above mentioned individual is that he is down right scum and possibly crazy. The individual likes to have monthly branch meetings where he reinforces that we were not getting raises, how we were not meeting standards, and a special few would be handed a $5 dollar bill for going above and beyond for the company. I'm not kidding about that, a person making 3 times your salary hands you a $5 dollar bill after telling you your not getting a raise. I don't know about you, but I didn't go to college to feel like a "lady of the night" at my job. If you can get your foot in the door with any other company please do, for every other freight forwarding/customs person please do not work at this company.

Pros

The coworkers are the best part of the job. You get to meet a lot of cool people who are very nice and helpful. Everyone is in the weeds together, so they all understand the stress and frustration. It helps when you are struggling with the processes, work load or poor management.

Cons

Management. RIM, please train your managers and supervisors. Just because someone is a high performing individual contributor does not mean they are qualified to lead people. The way management speaks to their employees is disrespectful and lacks empathy. The energy in the import department is that all managers and supervisors are a bunch of best friends who also happen to be in leadership roles and everyone beneath them is an inconvenience unless you never question anything and never have any issues.
