Unfortunately, my experience changed significantly over time.
The biggest issue is leadership and management. In my experience, many decisions were made in a very top-down and non-transparent way, with poor communication and very little accountability from leadership. There were also serious concerns around unfair treatment, inconsistent decision-making, and how people from different backgrounds were treated.
The recent layoffs were handled very poorly. What made it especially difficult was that the company had been publicly communicating strong growth and a healthy business situation, and then suddenly a large number of people in technology were impacted. The reasoning around AI and skills did not feel convincing or consistent from the employee side.
In my view, the selection process did not feel fair or genuinely skill-based. Some highly capable and experienced people were let go, while others were retained for reasons that were not clear. This created a strong feeling of unfairness and damaged trust.
I also witnessed and heard many negative experiences from international employees, including unfair treatment, discrimination-related concerns, and poor handling of difficult situations. The company talks about diversity and inclusion, but the lived experience can be very different, especially for non-Finnish employees.
Overall, the worst part of the company is the leadership culture. There are good individual contributors, but the management structure feels outdated, local-network driven, and not modern enough for an international technology company.
