Pros

This could all change now that Protection 1 has "merged" with ADT. For now, their pay rates are relatively high for similar positions. There is a lot of opportunity for advancement but... (see cons list). The CEO gets a thumbs-up despite my cons. He walks around and talks to every employee on site visits. He gets brownie points.

Cons

Training and development is not a strong suit, particularly for leadership roles. People who are good at their current jobs tend to be promoted into management, even if they have little to no management skills. There is little in the way of continuing education and training once you reach a certain level. Training and development for lower levels is, at best, "so-so." Get ready to sink or swim. If you are a swimmer, you will likely do well.

Horrible.

Pros

Easy, mindless job. Show up and do what you're told and you won't get in trouble. Just don't work in customer service and you'll have it easy.

Cons

Customer service is an absolute joke. They brag about their short hold time when a customer calls in, but that's because employees are worked back to back to back calls all day every day. If a customer gets disconnected, too bad, because another call will come in and you don't have the opportunity to finish what you were originally doing. You don't even get paid when you use the restroom. Supervisors can play games on their computers instead of helping take calls, but employees aren't allowed to take 5 minutes to use the bathroom or get a drink. I had excellent numbers but was written up because "I wasn't providing good customer service". They even listened to my calls, agreed that I was doing everything that I was supposed to, but they still wrote me up.

Pros

Typical day was responding to alarm activities, dispatching, assuring customer's safety were in tact. Environment was very calm during mornings. Management was helpful, didn't feel intimidated by anyone. The team leaders and command center were always there to guide you when you had questions. Their benefits are great and the break room was pretty cool to relax in. There was always room and opportunities for advancement and a lot of overtime posted to get in those extra hours.

Cons

Breaks of 15 mins flew by fairly quick, and 30 minute lunches felt short at times. The 4 week training taught you the basics but didn't cover everything once you are out on the floor its learn as you go.
