      Pros

      Some good people on the development team. Good camaraderie between people.

      Cons

      Everyone on half pay or worse. Some go months without seeing a paycheck. Poor production and studio "values."

      Our studio pillars are integrity, transparency and lifelong learning. We have always set out to do what's best for our staff above all else. In the past, we had seasons when we had work shortages which resulted in cash flow issues. Rather than laying off staff, we explained the situation and asked everyone to help us through these difficult periods by agreeing to half pay measure for a fixed period. Participation was voluntary. Some people did opt not to go on half pay and we respected that. After the cash flow stabilized, we restituted the missing half pay to the staff affected - this happened about 2 - 3 months after the half pay period.

      Pros

      Worked with some of the kindest and most skilled people. Exec level management (with the exclusion of the CFO) are all very pleasant to work with.

      Cons

      Co-Owner & CFO laid off the majority of the studio back in September 2023. I have not received any severance to date (Feb 2024). They have reported to the government that the severance was paid out, this is causing financial harm to me personally and a lot of headache trying to resolve this. In the past they have also not paid my monthly paycheck on time. Attempting to resolve any of these issues often results in getting stonewalled by HR or the CFO conveniently losing any correspondence to solve the issue.

      Thank you for sharing your experience with us. While I can't dive into specifics online, I will address what I can. The layoffs referenced unfortunately are due to payment issues from multiple clients, despite our best efforts, clients sometimes do not follow through on their end. We have taken steps to prevent this from happening again. This layoff was not a result of the ownership group, CFO or HR making a decision but rather myself the CEO.
