Pros

You’re given real responsibility early on and trusted to make decisions. Ideas are heard, there’s room to experiment and move fast. You’ll work with smart, driven people and learn a lot in a short time. Leadership is approachable and the work culture encourages initiative. If you’re someone who enjoys owning projects end to end, this is a great place to be.

Cons

The speed of growth means structures are still evolving, so you need to be adaptable and comfortable figuring things out as you go. Workdays can get intense during launches, but that’s also when you learn the most. Best suited for someone who enjoys ownership and thrives in a dynamic environment.

Pros

Pocket FM doesn’t shy away from giving outsized rewards when you deliver. You work in a very data-driven setup with a lot of first-principles thinkers across teams. Colleagues are sharp and collaborative, and they push you to raise your own bar. Company has a strong “fight back and scale” mindset and moves fast on big bets. Huge push on AI-led content and decision making. They’ve brought a clear, data-centric approach into an otherwise vague content industry, which is genuinely commendable.

Cons

Audio content as a category is still new and Pocket FM is a startup scaling very fast, so you will have to stretch and learn on the job. Processes are still being built, so you need patience and comfort with ambiguity. Not the right place if you want a predictable 9–5 or get uncomfortable with fast pivots and frequent experiments. There have been culture issues in the past and some of that baggage might show up, but directionally there is a genuine effort from leadership to solve this.

Pros

Started well, exciting company to join last year post a fresh funding round. New way of imagining consumer internet business out of India.

Cons

Leadership is extremely unstructured in what they want and that follows through. I hate how they treat writers / video / sound engineers - the crux of any entertainment company.

Pros

No pros for the company where planning means nothing

Cons

Duration: Joined December 2024 – Left after layoffs in January Review: I joined the company in December as an Engineering Manager after confirming with leadership that the company had sufficient runway and financial stability. Unfortunately, within a month, significant layoffs were announced, including impacts to newly hired employees. This revealed a serious lack of planning, transparency, and responsibility at the leadership level. There was no foresight or clear communication about the company’s financial condition or hiring strategy. Overall, this was a deeply disappointing experience. I would caution anyone considering joining this company to do deep due diligence and look for signs of organizational maturity and financial integrity before committing. Cons: Misleading hiring practices No planning or strategic leadership Financial instability Poor communication during crises Inadequate compensation post-layoff

Pros

Remote friendly is the only perk

Cons

Poor product leadership quality, lack consistency in decision making, empathy and micromanage way too much. They make 180 degree pivots and don't really know what they want. Highly political organisation and extremely top heavy. One needs to play the visibility game or be a friend of the founders to do well here.
