Pros
I enjoy working at Playstack. I have been here less than four years but more than one. But it is a shame what has happened to the company since the Balatro release. Folks that worked on the game are seen in a higher regard than everyone else. It’s now a two-tier company. All expenses paid award trips, bonuses, promotions! If you were lucky enough to be assigned to Balatro, you get everything! Although the team has done a good job on the game, the game is so good that it sells itself! Let’s not pretend that if it wasn’t for Playstack the game wouldn’t have sold as many copies.
Cons
Politics. You need to ensure you say the right thing and not annoy the wrong person. Say the wrong thing to someone who worked on Balatro… boy you could be in trouble! Because ‘we can’t lose any of the staff that worked on that game!’.

It looks like they have a good portfolio of games and are interested in small developers, which is great.
Cons
The recruiter Carmen was quite rude. I started the interview and she didn't even introduce herself, then when I replied to why I wanted to work there, she said that she 'I was the second person to tell her that' as if my reasoning was not valid.. then when it came to the salary expectations she decided to not move forward. They are offering 35k USD for an entry level Game design job... in North America.. that's below minimum wage. She cut the interview short and wasted my time. I appreciate that she was honest about the salary but might as well work for free..
