People onground are generally nice, work is interesting. Work-life balance is okay. As everyone said, stable job aka you can't get fired unless you do something blatantly illegal.

Cons

Nepotism runs rampant, undeserving people in high ranking positions making stupid decisions or doing close to nothing but going unquestioned because of rank. A lot of deadweight and the term "legacy" being thrown around a lot as an excuse for said deadweight and outdated practices.

Cons

Having to work overtime without pay. It's such a culture in the department to work extensively outside working hours without being appreciated.
