The company grew fast and was innovative and that made it an exciting place to be. I enjoyed working there and the fact that you were always very busy and time went so fast because of that. Also you were given as much responsibility as you wanted to take and this is good for development although a bit daunting for some. Some really great colleagues who were incredibly hardworking and some really brilliant and dedicated leadership that tried to provide good opportunities for staff to grow and develop.
Cons
Most of leadership team was very sales-focussed which did sometimes annoy other teams who felt a bit left out. There were attempts made to improve this though.
The business was working in an area which had a lot of external change affecting it and this made it very hard to know what was coming next. Some people don't like uncertainty and so this place would not be for them!
A capable team with hands-on management.
I was treated very well here as a trainee, getting to work with directors and meet clients at an early stage. You'll get many opportunities to impress and make an impact.
Mistakes are seen as a vital learning tool.
The business sees itself as a bringer of change to the way tax advice is delivered, so I got to work for some very ambitious, hard-working people who love their jobs.
Cons
As the firm grows, you might find priorities and tasks changing at a moment's notice - a con for those who want to know what they'll be doing from one week to the next. For others, it's a challenge, and you'll get loads of practical experience.
