Pros

Decent pay. Friendly staff. Nice lunch.

Cons

You will be cold in the chilled area. Lots of standing. Long hours. Not frequent enough breaks for how long you’re standing.

Pros

Nine apart from Natalia, she’s an angel and deserves much better.

Cons

When you first start working at Ocado, everyone is lovely. The recruitment process is smooth, you attend a tour of the warehouse, and get to choose where you want to work, whether you want to work days or nights free etc… You do two days worth of training, get stuck in, have your six week probation…and then it’s all downhill from there. Overtime was pretty much offered on a daily basis when I first started…roll on six months, and you’re lucky to make it to the end of the day. The staff are practically shoving you towards the exit, they want rid of you so bad. Breaks are horrendous. You only get two 30 minutes and god forbid you’re a minute over, despite it being a good five minute walk from warehouse to canteen AND despite the fact we are supposed to have UNINTERRUPTED BREAKS AND we don’t even get paid for our breaks which is bad enough, but particularly when you have to waste ten minutes of it going back to your station. Managers are MEAN. Area Managers no longer do very much and sit in the office dictating to everyone, and Area Coordinators are left to do it all, which is all very well and good but the majority of them are lazy and depending who they like, play favouritism to the staff on a daily basis. Breaks have become a joke. No swapping, no being able to have a break with your friends, because Ocado doesn’t want you to have fun at work. They want you to come in, do your job and basically be a robot. And god forbid you have a restriction. Because that won’t be their problem. Can’t do chilled? Can’t do ambient? It they’re problem, get on with it. Oh and even better. People that have been there for years, who have been AGREED restrictions are now starting to have that stripped back. DISGUSTING. Oh and god forbid you’re sick. You’re not allowed to be ill here at Ocado. Not only do you not get paid (oh wait I’m sorry, you get statutory pay after five days wooppy doo dar) if you have more than three sickness, that’s stage one. More than two sicknesses after they, stage two. Oh and one more after that mate? STAGE THREE. Stage four and you’re out! What a load of rubbish. Like people plan on being sick. And also bearing in mind that if you have sickness and diarrhoea you’re not allowed to come in because it’s a food environment, but that’s not their problem. They won’t make allowances for anyone. There is no chance for promotion. They pick people who are utterly useless, don’t do any work, and are off their stations 99.9% of the time to become an Area coordinator over hard working individuals that genuinely want to make good changes within the company. They speak to people like absolute rubbish. They expect the world from their employees despite the pay being POOR. Oh and the new thing is if you’re away from your station any longer then two minutes, that’s unacceptable. So if you need the bathroom within work time, you better be prepared to run for that bathroom. So basically, if you have zero respect for yourself, haven’t got a brain, and want to be treated like rubbish day in and day out then this is the place for you!!! Wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy and that’s putting it mildly.
