Pros

Salary in comparison to other institutions; Excellent faculty, staff, and students; Some of the academic programs are seriously top notch or the only ones of their kind in the U.S.; Excellent Adult Degree Program that appeals to non-traditional students and is doing quite well in comparison to the Traditional/Residential Program

Cons

Middle management and executives; Concerned about leadership's vision at times (found there was quite a bit of disconnect between front-line workers and leadership); Silos between some departments made it difficult to communicate and collaborate effectively; Leadership would sometimes be demeaning and disrespectful to subordinate employees; I never received a raise, and was told by long-standing employees that raises were pretty much non-existent (revenue has been a concern as of late)

Pros

Well-known university with a good undergrad business education.

Cons

Managers are allowed to overwork employees with no pay increases. Employees who speak up for themselves are threatened or fired. Managers are protected for rude and discriminating behavior, rather than employees rights being upheld. Departmental VP's and Presidents turn a blind-eye to unethical behavior in order to insure their paychecks continue to grow.

Pros

Benefits, great co-workers. Having passion towards the great good of the University and being surrounded by co-workers who do too.

Cons

Management. It is appalling to have worked in a department with such mistreatment. Knowing the staff feels the same way across the board but no one does anything but protect the manager. There is a key department on campus that is crucial to the growth of the University but has employees flying through by the dozen because of the management. Listen to your employees, they were hired for a reason. The manager is not always right. Stop protecting the very people that are causing even alumni to turn their heads away from their Alma mater. It is evident there is not a lot of room for growth internally when you witness many people from within applying for positions to earn promotions and being turned down for candidates outside of the organization. A lot of empty promises upon hiring.
