Pros

Smart driven colleagues, laser focussed management that have built resilient and profitable business. A fun place to work and a great place to learn. Low levels of red tape and bureaucracy, expect fair and direct feedback. The firm has a sense of purpose and wanting to do something good and build something special rather than just generate revenue. Very strong and charismatic founder, supported by a smart leadership team.

Cons

Flat structure and the design of Ninety One favours self starters and go getters. Not necessarily a negative but may not be for all.

You can be well paid - but only if you are liked and play the politics well Good/standard benefits as a financial services company

Cons

Founding management are out of touch and micro manage HR serve management and do not support employees Known bullies are allowed to carry on as long as they produce results Poor work/life balance

Free fruit every morning, paid to do nothing and sponsorship for CFA

Cons

Terrible culture - boys club and family first. Majority of people in investment side got to where they are because of their family connections. Aggressive management and lack of opportunities. Trying to be Goldman Sachs but they clearly aren't.
