Toxic Leadership Overshadowed My Experience
Pros
Met some great colleagues. They left the company for the same reasons.
Cons
I worked at this company for about eight months as an experienced nurse with over 17 years in the field. Unfortunately, my time here was marked by persistent issues with leadership that made the work environment unnecessarily difficult. The management style in my department was overly controlling and often disruptive. It wasn’t uncommon for staff to be pulled from scheduled meetings with little warning, creating confusion and undermining productivity. This lack of structure made it difficult to maintain focus on our core responsibilities. Communication from leadership often came across as harsh and dismissive. Staff were expected to respond to messages immediately, regardless of workload or context, and any delay was met with criticism rather than understanding. Feedback was frequently delivered in front of others, which contributed to a culture of fear rather than one of collaboration or support. Strong leadership, in my view, is built on respect, communication, and trust. Unfortunately, these values were not consistently upheld during my time here. It was one of the most challenging work environments I’ve encountered in my career—not due to the work itself, but due to the way people were managed.
