I worked in the legal team. It was a truly terrible experience. The managers are bullies and HR so so useless.
The other people I worked with were extremely unhappy and they have all left now, except management.
The bullying behaviour was a variety of personal put downs and unnecessary comments, deliberately taking what I had said out of context, giving me work with zero explanation of what needed to be done, not responding to reasonable requests of assistance, being left out of meetings and social events, taking me into meetings with no warning and yelling at me for a good half hour or more, talking behind my back, I could go on.
It wasn’t just a clash of personalities. There was a very very high staff turnover, with around 5 people in my job in the 18 months before me. I heard that there was a successful employment claim against the company from one employee previously in my “team”.
I was initially frank with HR. They did nothing to assist, they only made things worse.
Eventually I contacted a legal charity who confirmed that I was being bullied. After speaking to a counsellor from them I handed my notice in. I have moved on to better things.
They made my life very unhappy. I cannot overstate the damage that they did to my confidence, not to mention my mental and physical health.
(Not a current employee, just don’t know how to change it.)
