Leadership politics causes teams to become siloed. Salary parity is abysmal, leadership wants to control their SG&A for short term quarterly results without focus on long term churn and removal of barriers to friction. People continue to work hard as possible within their means, but for the most part are treading water because senior leadership is not penalised for mismanagement.
Management uses the excuse of salary bands and benchmarking to peg to the lowest possible pay band with most being underpaid and sub-median even. This is even before responsibilities and expansion of oversight at the regional level.
There is expansion of scope up and down while compensation remains pegged to the “economic outlook” in order for executives to hold on to their bonuses while below drown in suppressed increments, career stagnation and expanding workload.
