Pros

Fun and exciting work environment. Entrepreneurial spirit. Leadership gives guidance but allows employees to have autonomy on their projects or task. The team approach to major projects allows input from every department. Everyone's input is considered and valued. MSC is always looking for ways to improve in every area of the business. I'm very excited to see what the future brings and I am excited to be a part of it.

Cons

Small teams can be good and bad. It's a balancing act and at times I have had to step back and re-prioritize projects based on the changing needs of the company. As with every job, flexibility is important. Every day is different. This can be a challenge if you like to do the same thing each day. I like a mix of both so this works for me.

There are no pros to working here

Micromanaged--every email and phone call is monitored and if you don't use enough exclamation points to show that you are "whimsey" you will be reprimanded. Frowned upon to form friendships and relationships with cowokers Almost every product in their line is a knockoff. They take someone else's design and make it in China for half the price and the quality is awful. If it is an "original" design, it will stay in the product line each season and they will just change the colors and patterns. Horrible working conditions, especially during market. You are required to work 12 hour shifts and you can't sit down. Management has ZERO respect for their employees. You will never be rewarded for good work, but quickly called out and yelled at when it's bad. I heard the owner YELL at reps on the phone multiple times. High turnover. I was there a few months and 7 people left and 5 more left a few months after I did. Employees are not allowed to have their cell phones out AT ALL. You can't even have it on your desk. You best hope and pray an emergency doesn't happen during working hours because you won't be able to check your phone to find out. Don't worry, the owner has her phone in hand at all times, but you must keep yours in your purse or pocket.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. All of our products are designed in-house. We have new product introductions 3-4 times a year which include extensive market introductions. We work towards creating on-trend products with our own MSC twist. Time, energy, and research goes into creating new products and updating existing top sellers for our line. We inspect all samples to ensure quality assurance prior to shipping to our customers. Our cell phone policy is in place for the office and warehouse staff for various reasons. We have found active cell phone use to be a distraction. Our policy also ensures employee/customer confidentiality. We encourage all employees to provide immediate family and friends our office number should any type of emergency arise. It’s fair to say, the owner is in contact with many people on a day-to-day basis for the benefit of the company. Market is indeed a busy time for MSC. It is certainly all hands on deck during market season both in the office and in the showroom. For those that go to market, we cover all travel expenses, hotel accommodations, and a per diem each day on top of providing lunch each day. It’s an experience and privilege that not a lot of people get to take part in. We provide everything we can to help compensate for the long days and we certainly appreciate everyone that takes part in market and the company’s success. We as a company value hard work and dedication in getting the job done. We provide a competitive and fair compensation package to all of our employees and in return we have goals and expectations to fulfill.

Pros

Ummm the location of the company headquarters in North Carolina is pretty...that's about the only positive about this company.

Cons

First off,not a disgruntled employee. This company is a JOKE. Run. Fast. At first they make you think you're an asset to their team, but the owner makes you feel incompetent and yells at you for literally nothing all of the time. The owner & sales trainer are such micromanagers. You're under a microscope all the time even if you're in a different state. The sales goals are unrealistic ($40,000/month) and that's not always easy in some states. Also that's a tough goal to reach when the products they sell are cheaply made from China and are so out of style. Some customers called the products "cheap or ugly" "I can find cuter stuff for a lot less somewhere else" They hire girls right out of college, so they don't know how a good company is supposed to run. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Neither to work there or to buy products from.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We love that our roots are in small town Washington, NC where MSC first began! We hire reps to expand our brand and to service existing accounts. Relationships and customer service are top priority for MSC. Since our reps work remotely and most are out of state, we connect through phone, email, and sometimes through our CRM. We are simply here to help reps be successful and feel prepared when in front of customers. Before hiring a rep, we analyze a territory to ensure there is enough business/potential to support a rep and the goals we have in place. We are open to candidates from various backgrounds and experience levels. Our compensation package includes several incentives for successful sales reps. This includes higher commission rates as well as bonuses based on meeting goals and opening new accounts. All of our product is designed in-house by our product development team. We have new product introductions 3-4 times a year which includes extensive market introductions. We work towards creating on-trend products with our own MSC twist!
