You learn to be independent and resourceful. You find "solutions" on your own that you can be proud of later. The knowledge and training you self teach to yourself in production will further you in your career.
Cons
There is no training at MJC for the pre-production and production departments. Its basically sink or swim. The departments are very separated and highly competitive. It is a very unhealthy working environment with its seniors at the head of unfriendly gossip.
