Pros

If you enjoy rubbing elbows and brown nosing the right people, you will advance quickly within this company. The moment you are not in someone's favor, though, your growth and development will be stunted. They preach how important personal life is and to maintain a work life balance but the expectation can be different. Plenty of jobs coming open in future thanks to piggy backing off Universal's expansion and the new leadership's aggressive expansion plan. However, previous leadership (Paul Whetsell) had an aggressive plan to "double the size of the company in 5 years" which did not happen.

Cons

The politics of the company are ridiculous. If the right person favors you, you will be mentored, and developed quickly and advance right up the ladder. If you were brought in and have been identified as someone who is capable of advancement, STAY IN THAT PERSON's favor. The moment you are not, your growth will be stunted and professionalism is thrown out the door in regards to transferring departments, cross-training, and being considered for special recognition or projects. They are willing to hang their employees out to dry and terminate them after years of service without considering their length of service, previous record, and the individual circumstances in the case. They have skirted laws, and abuse their salaried employees, expecting 10-12 hour days out of them. The above-mentioned work/life balance is a joke if you are expected to "perform to their expectation of a manager or leader". They squeeze every last drop out of their employees and show minimal appreciation for it. Currently they are undergoing unionization battles, and frankly the employees do need some representation for their rights. I don't condone unions in hotels as I think it hinders the guests experiences, but someone needs to stand up to the low wages, over working, and under appreciation this company is practicing.

Pros

Free fruit, plentiful Free coffee, when machines are working Well-catered conferences President and CEO is a fairly recent, welcomed, breath of fresh air, though his progressive ideas are stunted by comfort complacency and antiquated practices.

Cons

Lack of mobility, transferability or vertical advancement - the idea is to keep you where you are, until they choose to dispose of you No training or development provided - fails to cultivate the talent familiar with current operations and functions Management and Senior Management are highly incompetent - positions based on tenure, nepotism and politics; true disregard for real talent that'll serve and benefit the company as a whole Antiquated perspectives, practices and procedures - this place equals all things stone-aged; not at all consistent with contemporary workforce or workplace trends needed to maintain the interests of a changed talent pool or employment functions Combative, confrontational, politically-charged, strained, divisive culture - no collaboration whatsoever between departments and disciplines, and truly unpleasant experiences when there are cross-functional endeavors; also highly charged and strained relations between Loews Corp. and Loews Hotels Holding Corp., although they share the same or similar office spaces, facilities and other things Nepotism - friends, family, former colleagues and acquaintances of senior management, board members, etc. are well positioned to do whatever, however they choose, solely on the basis of relationships, not talent, which, in turn, undercuts work morale Turnover - TONS OF TURNOVER, FREQUENTLY, from senior management to management, to operations and beyond and throughout

Pros

Includes a free meal everyday. You learn what not to do here. Employee pricing to stay in hotels is nice.

Cons

A lot of office politics exists and more red tape than ever seen. Open door policy does not exists but double standards do. Favoritism exists, lack of accountability from upper management (manager , director, senior director even). Best practices don't exist here and it can make anyone with an HR background uncomfortable. Lack of development, structure, culture, SOP in HR. You feel like you in the back of a clown car until you realize you're in it too.
