Hemorrhaging talent. Gone downhill after multiple acquisitions.
Pros
Work from home opportunities, depending on position and department. Great office location in Downtown Crossing. Cold brew on tap. Beer and wine delivery on Fridays (this was discontinued, though; not there my last 3 months) Casual dress code. Open floor plan helps team connect.
Cons
Leadership has changed greatly and things feel rudderless. People enjoyed working under former leadership, but they doesn’t seem to have much (if any) sway over the current direction. The new leadership team came in on the product side when we acquired Perch, a social monitoring app. To me, the new leadership doesn’t have a grasp on the small business owner market space, doesn’t understand their needs, or potentially just doesn’t care. They put new people in leadership roles, and they do not understand the space. At all. Frighteningly so. The company is no longer about helping businesses grow. It’s no longer about doing the right thing for our clients. That is sad. Bringing in new “big names” instead of using the talent who already understands the audience was a strange (and likely expensive) move. Seems odd when expenses are being cut everywhere else. Thrivehive under pays for important positions - the ones who interact with clients on the front lines (designers, customer success). They have people higher up that have no idea what they are doing. Leadership keeps changing and high up people disconnected with the day-to-day continue to get more promotions. The engineering team is really out of touch with what the clients need. The product is TERRIBLE. Not a little bad/needs improvement ..like, this product was ok 5 years ago and is horrendous and outdated and completely useless now. Selling ThriveHive to clients felt wrong, morally. 80% of the quality talent left this year. The only left are the ones who couldn’t get a comparable job at another company since they are ill equipped for the position they have (ie the product managers), they are too new to know better, or they don’t have the confidence to leave. Benefits are a not good (especially for a tech company). Medical insurance is crazy expensive. Plus, I heard they even canceled the Christmas party this year to “end the quarter financially on a high note.” You can tell from that how much they value the well/being and happiness of employees. The HR team is as bad as that they come. Leadership is unresponsive and lacks both empathy and passion for the job. This department does nothing, at best, and at worst, impedes progress. Beware; there is MAJOR nepotism at this company. The worst I have ever seen. Ultimately, leadership doesn’t care about their employees, and they definitely don’t care about the clients. Product is insanely over priced and completely useless. Paid campaigns are over priced and largely ineffective. Website builds are in a downward spiral (both in quality of output and time to get completed).
