Pros

Nice people at the lower levels. Part of VA is nice to work and live in if you get a high enough salary to live in one of the nicer neighborhoods.

Cons

Top leadership is integrated part of the Boeing leadership that is all over the news and in Congressional hearings as toxic, incompetent, retaliatory, lying, etc. Toxic work environment to be in and team works in a state of constant fear of leadership. They are so busy with in-fighting and figuring out who they can throw under the bus, instead of properly managing their teams, that engineers are leaving or engineers planning to leave. The reputation of leadership is so bad in the industry they cannot find people to replace the ones that have left or have indicated they want to leave for key roles. Every week constant threat of layoffs because of leadership running the company into the ground. Even our senior engineers are trying to leave now. Run.

Tragedy of Errors

Pros

There are a few middle managers and many lower level employees who are a pleasure to work with and learn from. It’s not enough to keep you there, however.

Cons

No training opportunities (they haven’t turned a profit in a few years, you will get turned down if you put in a request for any training opportunities that cost money). The CEO and Leadership Team (with the sole exception being the new Head of Engineering) is inept and out of touch. They have no idea what their mission is (their focus is scattered and it is reflected in recent customer evaluations) and the “why” behind doing what they’re doing. Employee morale is at an ALL time low and absolutely nothing has been done to address it. No opportunities for growth -including no promotions or raises. No diversity. HR
