Pros

The staff includes smart, creative and dedicated people. The product is complex and interesting to work on.

Cons

Management is terrible, chaotic and abusive, like one review said. Management is soliciting positive reviews from selected people to fix that they got a bad review.

Pros

The company has a professional veneer, ambitious plans, and optimistic employees. Working with fairly cutting-edge ideas with modern technology. Seemed there may be room to advance if the company takes off.

Cons

Much of the company's image is a veneer and is very disorganized and unprofessional under the hood. They had a jump-through-the-hoop hiring process with unreasonable demands. The work-life balance is terrible and management is bordering on sociopathic. Forget about 8 hour days or 2 days off. Expect random outbursts, rants, and melt downs over outlandish expectations and no-notice firings over petty things. Management seems to have very little experience, yet holds an arrogant attitude - casually name-dropping their experience with no-name companies.

Level Ex Response

While it's disappointing to read this former employee's sentiment, out of respect for our 70+ employees, our investors, and our many clients, we feel the need to respond. We’re quite proud of the work/life balance at Level Ex. It’s one of the reasons we have an uncommonly low turnover rate since the company’s founding three years ago. We believe that one of the main contributors to that high level of employee satisfaction is the fact that we do not consider "crunch mode" to be the default like so many other game studios and high growth start-ups. From a compensation and benefits standpoint we are considered competitive, and we offer equity to every single full-time employee. Again, not standard in games studios and start-ups. We do have a rigorous interview process and it helps us ensure that we bring in the best talent to help create our industry-leading medical games. That talent includes our senior management team which is comprised of alumni from Microsoft, WebMD, Ubisoft, Atari, Midway and WMS Games, among others. Are we perfect? Nope. But we are proud of the work we do, and we strive to get better and better as we continue to grow our team. Please feel free to reach out with any further comments or questions: hello@level-ex.com. Pros

Work with some great people, and pretty decent work-life balance if on certain teams. Depending on your role and Lead, you can have a competitive salary. There are some teams here that live outside the toxic bubble and you will be just fine without any work politics/drama/abuse. Be cautious of the Dev teams.

Cons

Very mismanaged and constantly on fire. This place keeps shooting itself in the foot and stubbornly powers through the pain. It's all about how good the company looks. Very veneer and elitist attitude. If you are not part of the inner circle, you will not thrive here. When people are not listening, and behind closed doors, abuse and harassment are going on. Certain individuals here are toxic and throw their power around. Salaries, interviews, pay-raises, and any HR-related issues are handled immaturely and with no grace.
