Pros

Work is straightforward and only as stressful as you make it. Lots of events to help boost the an admired culture perception. Decent amount of time off between two weeks of vacation and twelve floater days per year. Staff are mostly good people. An exclusive contract ensures there will always be customers. Free swag and wifi. Pretty building with LCDs everywhere. Large customer base provides opportunities to move into other organizations.

Cons

Not the right use of engineers, this is NOT an engineering company, it's a sales company. The AE job involves looking up product prices and quoting customers. Business systems are bandaid solutions that make more work for the engineers. No overtime, instead you get a personal factor that is based on your friendship with your manager and a company factor that they keep at just over neutral no matter how the company performs. No development opportunities unless you threaten to leave or have caught the eye of the president. B2B networks risk the need for resellers in the future. I am unsettled about the path we are on.

Pros

Free wifi, high school atmosphere, and lots of free pop in the fridge and other condiments in the lunchroom. New facility but no elevator to take you up or down floors.

Cons

Poor management, favouritism, no room for future advancement in career. Good in the beginning but the truth comes out in the end. Profit sharing is given a good amount if you a manager or higher management decision makers. Overworked and underpaid. Workers of less importance other than management are treated like dirt unless your physical features are appealing to them. Never get recognized for hard work. Lunch is unpaid one hour. Attend yearly 2 day presentation of how company is doing. No pay for this event. Overcharge customers for equipment and other services.

Pros

Good line card Diverse customer base so not too many eggs in one basket Very hard working internal account managers (particularly the 10+ year crowd) Laurentide is a much better company, and Emerson is aware of this, so Lakeside will likely go the way of the BC and Sask LBPs , meaning the useless management cadre will eventually get there due.

Cons

Outside sales force is on the whole weak, having no significant incentives to improve performance. Way to many equipment specialists that mosty consume oxygen and provide little value to clients or the internal order handling staff. Young, low self-confidence management team that is unable to take critisism and do anything other than play politics with each other to attempt to rearrange the deck chairs on the titanic.
