Pros

Good benefits Some flexibility with self scheduling Family centered care

Cons

Low wages (biggest dissatisfier) The department is super understaffed. Not enough nurses to cover shifts (days and nights), a lot of floats, few travelers. High nurse-patient ratios at times resulting in nurse burnout Favoritism Very tough to get Level III training. New employees are being rotated through the the "level III side" which makes it difficult for current and tenured employees to get the training. The NICU is divided into two sides which in turns creates somewhat of a divide between nurses on the unit.
