Pros

Used to be lifetime employment Some great coworkers. Superb company values and management Excellent Health insurance Transformation project in place to improve the company Japanese expats are top notch (best of the best) coworkers and managers.

Cons

Layoffs are random and affect only random employees who are either the absolute top performers or absolute lowest performers with no one removed in the middle. Health benefits and reduced drastically every year. Transformation project is full of people infighting with each other creating chaos and Japanese appear to be excluded from most of the transformation project leading to many issues. Most coworkers are unable to perform even the basic functions leading to huge delays in projects. Provisioning of hardware and software can take up many months delaying work. Security patches and fixes to core systems are not prioritized over making things look good. Superficial appearence is more important that how a system works. Audit findings and MRAs are routinely deprirotized and outright ignored leading to huge risks. Most employees are unable to follow simple audit rules in place to keep the bank safe making many meetings last hours instead of minutes. Turnover of coworkers quitting and leaving has increased dramatically leading to instability in many areas of the company as key knowledge is now lost and unrecoverable, and the new people coming in seem to be of extremely low caliber. Key information is not shared among different groups leading to issues daily with how to setup surface peripherals, use benefits or the fridges and coffee machines in the breakroom properly which in turn slows down business that needs to be finished for customers. Have seen many instances of persistent bullying and discrimination that were reported correctly by many employees however all of them were never resolved. Breaking core systems and causing severity incidents is routinely rewarded with repeated promotions.
