A lot of politics to navigate, particularly in the Hoofddorp office. Seems like a bit of an old boys club. In some parts of the Ottawa office there’s a resistance to ideas from anyone who hasn’t worked there for 10+ year/wasn’t there before the Irdeto acquisition. I think they could have promoted from within more. One of my colleagues commented that the best way to get a promotion is to leave the company and come back again in a few years. There’s probably a bit of truth to that. Probably the biggest drawback I observed is that there is a small group of people who are considered “superstars”. If you’re not in that group, the likelihood of having your ideas considered is very small.
