Pros

Growth: You get to learn along with those you serve about career development opportunities, state-run programs and other community resources and initiatives. Benefits: Decent benefits' package. Stability: This is a state agency, If the budget suffers, you know what could come.

Cons

Favoritism: This is a tag you'll find at ANY organization, though its pretty heavy-duty in this office. Those who get "favored" may not necessarily put out the work to deserve it, which leads to blatant complacency. Inconsistency: Management has yet to wield accountability on this front. Rules, policies, processes and procedures change constantly. It's a feat to keep up. Toxic Work Environment: A number of employees operate under a junior high mentality and management looks the other way.

Pros

As the title indicates, the job appealed to me for the rate of pay and benefits. My manager was about 5 hours away from my office, so it was nice being able to work independently and without someone over my shoulder so to speak - loved my office, business was slow in my particular position but an overall pleasant work environment ... until I was transferred.

Cons

Upon being transferred to a larger metro area, I noticed the level of customer service to people seeking assistance with unemployment or work related issues was very much below what I was used to, and it was almost disheartening. I pride myself on good customer service, and the IWD agents seemed so "jaded" in their positions they treated everyone like a bum looking for handouts. Not impressed by that behavior at all.

Pros

Benefits are great, IPERS is great

Cons

Awful work environment. Everyone walks on eggshells and if you aren't submissive you are gone. Favoritism runs rampant. Management is sneaky and does unethical things, including retaliation.
