Pros

Get to meet kids and teachers and work with them

Cons

Everything else. Management is unsupportive, they will blame you when you get sick. You’re pretty much a dancing monkey most of the time in the classroom unless you’re T1. Pay is HORRIBLE

Pros

Working with the schools and school children was great.

Cons

Moving in and leaving the company is extremely difficult. They will withhold your final salary for weeks and then reduce its final amount without telling you, so when you get your final pay it is so low that you can barely afford to live. Moving in the company is about the same level of nonsense. They don't help you move, instead they give you 100,000 yen and say "figure it out" to move on your own. They don't offer help or guidance with finding moving companies, nor do they help you move. The rental car insurance is a joke and they will find every reason possible for you to pay a ridiculous car repair bill that you can barely afford with your meagre salary. I was an employee with this company until recently and to thank me for my 3 years of hard work they reduced my final pay without explanation and withheld it for a month. One top of that, they decided to charge me with a car repair bill that should be covered under the employee insurance. I physical cannot afford to pay this bill with the scraps they have given me. To make matters worse they say your salary is 240,000 yen a month or more, but in reality you only get paid for "working days". So you usually end up receiving less then 100,000 every pay period. Its worse for the months of March and April because depending on when spring break starts or ends your pay could be cut in half or even lower. My coworker had to survive off 50,000 yen for the month. Getting a pay increase with this company is not easy as well. You have to stop teaching and become an office worker. This will involve you moving with little to none assistance, just a 100,000 yen check that barely helps with moving costs. This company has caused me and my family so much stress over these last 3 years. Its best to not work here.
