Pros

I loved my job and the people there, for the most part. The atmosphere is primarily supportive and it's a gorgeous place to work. There was a lot of creative freedom and I was able to work with my fabulous marketing team into incredible growth in digital following, creative content generation, positive media attention, PR, etc. The leadership team listened to needs and was able to deliver on several high dollar equipment investments for the team. Raises were consistent under me because I pushed for them every year. I was very underpaid considering my education and experience levels. Benefits were average. Loved my team, and loved most of the employees there. Had a wonderful mentor. Ultimately loved it there, I was sad to move on.

Cons

Pay isn't up to snuff for roles, especially technical and director roles. Communication between directors needs to improve. A company-wide strategic plan is needed, and if there is one, it should be shared with directors, so that they can operate specifically to support those goals, rather than managing blind. Directors should then "stay in their respective lanes" and work together for best outcomes, rather than hiring outside/out-of-state/family member contractors to do work that the in-house team can do, thus being better stewards of stakeholder and company dollars. Also, because it is a family-owned business, there is very little room to grow, career-wise; 3rd gen leadership is expected to take those upper management roles. The CFO/HR Director was non-responsive as well and is one of the primary reasons I moved on.
