      Great learning experience early in your career!

      Pros

      You’re given a huge amount of responsibility very early on, which is great if you want to learn quickly. As a producer you’re involved in everything from researching the market and securing speakers to shaping the agenda and delivering the event onsite. You get the chance to speak with senior executives across major companies, which is a great exposure point early in your career. The junior team culture is strong and people tend to support each other because everyone understands the pressure that comes with the role. If you’re proactive and comfortable figuring things out as you go, you can develop a lot of useful commercial and communication skills quite quickly.

      Cons

      The role can be quite intense with a lot of moving parts to manage at once. At times there can also be a heavy level of oversight in day-to-day work, which can make it harder to build confidence and ownership in the role. A management style that leans more towards guidance and trust rather than constant checking would likely help people perform at their best.

      Pros

      The profit share can really help boost your salary. I have been averaging around 8-12K a year across my events. And of course this can vary and you can never depend on profit share.

      Cons

      Though UK salaries are typically lower, I do find the salaries rather on the low end. There aren't great benefits to off set it either.
