Pros

very friendly working environment, worked in Asia pacific office with a small team, everyone works closely together exposure to suppliers within the region gives enough responsibility even as an Intern

Cons

offered full time offer but the salary wasn't competitive enough, but I think this is because in general, engineers' pay in this particular city isn't high

Pros

The training is very good. The Reps. work hard and the compensation package can be good if you negotiate and read the fine print

Cons

I have never known a company of individuals so full of themselves. Arrogant doesn't begin to describe it. It's a "good ole boys club" in EVERY single region of the country. The Sales Managers truly believe that Humanscale product is God's gift to humanity. IT'S JUST FURNITURE. No lives being saved here. The management style is abysmal. There is no consistency in what the business focus is from one week to the next. The Dealers in the market are not too enthusiastic to spec Humanscale because of how cocky the sales folks are. There's a difference between confidence and arrogance. Humanscale will tell you that they struggle with the Dealers because of Hermann Miller and SteelCase's "no sell"policy. It's actually more to do with the fact that they don't want to work with a bunch of snobby, smarmy reps. The goals are ridiculous, almost impossible to achieve unless you have been there at least 5 years. Those who have been there longterm have literally had to sell themselves, their pride and integrity. No thanks, not my style.

A company in decline and denial

Pros

It was easy to be motivated when you genuinely love your coworkers and the products, and I worked at Humanscale for years because both of those things were true. The seating line is unparalleled and I’m not looking forward to sitting on anything else. The folks in charge of certain teams are smart, capable, kind, and driven. But it’s very clear that the organizational structure and certain people toward the top are cancerous, and there’s only so long someone can be distracted by a flashy showroom before they realize it.

Cons

It’s frustrating to work somewhere that brands themselves as wellness-oriented, whose stated goal is to “Create a more comfortable place to work”, yet shows no appreciation for the HUMANS that make HUMANSCALE successful. Fair compensation and sick days? Forget about it. Properly formulated parental leave, accessible lunch options, volunteer opportunities? Not at all, but at least you get a keyboard tray! You might be laid off at a moment’s notice, but that’s ok because you can stand at your desk while you pack up your things.
