Pros

It's a job in journalism, which are had to come by, and there are some great people working there, meaning it's a good opportunity to make friends and connections for that next gig.

Cons

Shoulder-to-shoulder factory like conditions. Little room for advancement. Potential for clicks always trumps newsworthiness. Weird, seemingly unspoken power structure based on who knows whom. Overall very strange and uncomfortable environment.

Pros

The workplace shared many of the perks of young tech startups; casual dress, free snacks, open floorplan, etc.

Cons

Unreliable management, alienation of male staff/allies, zero employee investment or development, aimless strategy, low pay, dilution of brand. Teams don't talk to one another. Management is dishonest and untrustworthy. Newsroom has become more like a high school popularity contest.
