Pros

Casual attire, good compensation and friendly peer developers. Work is interesting and challenging. CEO is pretty nice and approachable.

Cons

I think the two biggest problems at Hooklogic are work life balance, and career advancement. Something really needs to be done about work / life balance. Developers are constantly required to work nights and weekends to keep up with management's unrealistic development timelines. Senior and management positions tend to be hired from outside rather than promoted from within, leaving existing employees with little chance of advancement.

Appreciate the feedback. I know we've made a lot of positive changes in the past few months but if you are still an employee at Hooklogic, and still have these concerns, please come to me (HR Director) and let’s talk about them and any ideas you might have. I’ll make sure they get elevated wherever possible.

Pros

Literally no work to do as long as you're okay with collecting a paycheck and clocking out.

Cons

No work to do, bosses who micromanage, not at all interesting, minimal advancement. There's no respect in the workplace. People have used the N-word and have been blatantly sexist with little to no consequences. There's a lot of yelling and blaming when things go wrong. There's an incredibly high turnover rate for a reason. This is not a good place to work. It is basically a frat house that pays you to be hazed.

Hello - Thank you for your review. I am writing as the Head of Human Resources for HookLogic. While I appreciate your honest feedback I am very disappointed that this was your experience. We expect the best from our employees…both in work performance and in upholding a respectful culture. I am appalled that these are things you may have witnessed, overheard or were exposed to in one way or another. We have always made it a point to respond swiftly and decisively to the issues like the ones you point out: racial insensitivity, sexist remarks, harassment or bullying. HookLogic does not support these views. They are unfortunately real issues in today's workplace and we take them very seriously. If your concerns were brought to my attention this would have been investigated and if proven, those responsible would have been summarily terminated. We’ve been growing rapidly and we’ve put a lot of measures in place to support our employees and ensure open lines of communication. However, we do recognize that sometimes certain issues don’t always come to light. We will continue to work hard at identifying those issues sooner rather than later. Still, I want you to know that you can contact me directly if you have any concerns that were unaddressed during your employment at HookLogic. I would personally welcome your feedback on these matters. Thank you, Head of Human Resources HookLogic

Pros

Fast paced, free coffee, drinks and occasional snacks, open floor

Cons

Too much politics, culture wreeks of jocks, no professionalism in the workplace, very outdated technology and tools, business leaders more interested in pouring resources into risky and non-profitable ideas while sinking the only parts of the business that keep the company afloat (lost more than 1 client that they had no interest in keeping despite revenue problems), no growth potential for any employee, pay is well below the industry average for all positions, work hours too demanding, often requiring all employees to be on-call at all times, workplace sludge is rampant, managers care little about opinions of employees (almost totalitarian mentality), upper management disconnected from what's going on, much more interested in hiring from outside than promoting from within, workplace bullying rampant.
