Cons

Working at this location was nothing short of a nightmare. From the first day I started, I was made aware of the toxic work environment including coworkers that call eachother names and gossip. Not only that, but there were also many racist and disgusting remarks made by my coworkers regarding the types of guests we often had staying in the hotel. Management pretends to care about your well being while also picking favorites and doing nothing about your concerns and only making excuses especially for those who are favored in the company. Instead of communicating directly to us, they leave condescending notes around the staff room even if it was only directed at one person. This shows a massive lack of maturity. There is no professionalism. Management also made ridiculous rules that truly showed how little they cared about our livelihoods, and prioritized maximizing profits. Not only was I the lowest paid housekeeper in the area, but they wanted us to not clock in before our scheduled time even if we were working because it "made calculating everyone's paychecks difficult," they wanted all of us to go on break or none of us, and they wanted us to leave at the same time everyday. Which meant, if my coworkers wanted full 8 hour days they couldn't. I would get my work done and go help these women finish their rooms to get out of work early even though they needed the money to support their families. Management also makes excuses for the dirtiness of the hotel including mice running around, specifically, the second floor. We are paid pennies to be treated as nothing. The job itself was enjoyable. But the environment is the most toxic work environment I've ever worked in. I have a physical disability and due to ableism in my workplace from other coworkers, I had to do extra weeks of training to "prove myself" and often experienced ableist comments from my coworkers on the daily. This company does not care about you.
