Pros

Learn quickly, only engineer on location within 6 months, best oilfield training, 10 weeks of official classroom training during first year, little to no supervision from boss, you will learn to be self sufficient quickly which is great for personal development. 60k starting off, 25$/day per diem, 1k relocation bonus, 2k bonus at 4 months (equipment), 3k bonus at 8 months (fluids), at 1 year, up to 10% raise and daily bonus for everyday your in the field pumping a job (100$/day)... So at one year you'll be making 63k plus 100$/day bonus. Schedule is 10 on, 4 off. 3 of your days on will be in the office, 7 in the field. 11-3 for ATP's.

Cons

300+ hours a month, lots of driving, no work life balance, always thinking about work, low pay for hours worked, must stay for at least 2 years or you will have to pay back training bonus.

Pros

*Can break into oil and gas *Have good people in OKC office and most other offices.

Cons

*Drastically reduced MWD pay over the last 18 months. *MWD pay is no longer competitive vs other companies *Don't work offshore. They pay the same as land jobs but you do a lot more work and there's more stress. *Don't work for the Houston office. They treat their MWD's poorly. Most other offices are pretty good to their MWDs Advice for potential MWDs looking for work with any employer, not just Halliburton: You work 90-100 hours a week and are often gone weeks at a time. You are on all 24 hours a day. I don't mind that, but you need to be compensated for it. Look around at several companies and do not accept low ball offers or reduced pay. Before you hire on, thoroughly understand pay and total pay (per diem, salary, vehicle allowance, tool bonus, hourly pay, overtime hourly pay etc). Ask questions - ask what the pay structure is and how raises work. Find out what has to be done to earn a raise. A competent MWD should be making at least $10-11k a month after 6 months (based on 30 day work month) and experienced hands command $13-16k a month (based on 30 day work month, vehicle, salary, hourly, per diem etc). Know what the market pays! look around! I have no comments on or advice for senior management as I never worked with those areas.

Pros

Transport provided at different locations, as workplace is at Tuas South. Good insurance dental, medical benefits for family. Centre of excellence, many learning opportunities. State of the art facilities. Overseas exposure. Managers are good, but depends on who too. Subsidised cafeteria food. Work life balance as long as not in management (who attends late night meetings with US team).

Cons

No bonus at technology department, despite tremendous support to manufacturing, who gets yearly profit sharing bonus of average about2.5 months. Annual salary package is not competitive relative to other engineering companies. Annual increment small, some years dont have due to downturn. Work life balance affected if in managment.
