Pros

Goodlord is a special place to work where there is a real family environment, full of ambitious hardworking people. Management has ensured that we've remained positive, included in company matters and supported throughout COVID - with virtual parties, daily coffee talks, PT and many more fun activities.

Cons

Unable to work from the office, even when other central London companies have allowed their staff to do so

Thank you very much for leaving us this review. I am really pleased to hear you feel the family environment and you've felt supported with our virtual events programme whilst we can't work from the office. Our office opening guidelines are in line with the government tier system to keep Goodlordians are those they live with safe during COVID-19. We appreciate that it can be challenging working from home, and we hope to be able to open the office when the government guidelines allow us to do so. Until then, if there's anything we can be doing to help whilst you work remotely - please do let us know. Best wishes Lucy

Pros

Good socials quarterly, nice people to work with on the whole, work/ life balance was good.

Cons

My experience at Goodlord was poor, largely due to a patronising higher management. Senior management gave little to no support, creating an environment where people felt undervalued. This was reflected in the high staff turnover, which seemed to be accepted rather than addressed. One-to-one meetings were impersonal and purely business-focused, with no genuine interest in you as an individual or in your development. Training was entirely online, poorly structured, and failed to clearly explain what the role actually involved. As a result, it was difficult to build confidence or perform well. Felt that I couldn’t ask for help — you were told you would “pick it up as you go along,” despite the lack of proper guidance or support. Overall, the culture felt dismissive, driven by management that appeared disconnected from the realities of the role and the people doing it.

Pros

Goodlord is a great tech company, a safe place to enjoy my work and grow personally and professionally every day. It's great going into an environment where I feel encouraged to progress with my career, also thanks to an annual development budget. I feel like part of a big team, surrounded by friendly and supportive people, in a dynamic and welcoming place. On top of that, the culture makes Goodlord one of the most fun and exciting companies to work for.

Cons

Pros

- Great people. - Lots of parties, events and diversity activism.

Cons

Goodlord will rave about what a great place to work this is. The culture means everything to them and they make this feel like a real community. However they won't treat you fairly in terms of salary and benefits. They've exploited a pandemic and recession to move over 40 people onto contracts with a 30% pay cut. Sick leave on these contracts has gone from 2 weeks to 3 days. This department is the heart of Goodlord, but the people are not valued and they do not care about the quality of the product. It's been stated that as the company grows similar steps will be implemented for other departments as well. Goodlord values are constantly discussed, but these won't be reflected by management if they think they can save money.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review - we are very sorry you feel this way. Our values are very important to us and we’re very sorry that you didn't feel this was reflected during your time here. We take great pride in the culture that we're building at Goodlord and we're so glad that you mentioned the people here and our events and diversity committee as pros of the workplace in your review. We hope that we are making strides towards making this culture a sustainable one in the referencing team by transitioning from temporary to permanent contracts - offering more job security and a department staffed by a permanent workforce. Although we would be really happy if everyone chose to continue working at Goodlord, we recognised that this transition wouldn't work for some people and offered several options for those who said the new terms wouldn't work for them, including help finding new employment or extension on the current terms to provide more time to find an alternative that meets their needs. We would like to work with you to find a solution that works for you, so please get in touch with us. Best Wishes, Lucy

Pros

Don't be fooled by goodlords love bombing in your initial interview. If you are reading this and think you match their referencing criteria think again- it is nothing but a controlling call centre that will drain you of your enthusiasm and energy. Goodlord draws you in under the pretence you will be a referencing executive, this role will constantly change on week if not day to day basis meaning you are constantly learning a new role. Unattainable targets, systems that aren't even functioning you will be expected to work on, while reaching sed targets, and being shouted at by the quite rightly frustrated tenants on the end of the line . Inept management that treat you like children. When raising concerns to them they will deflect it back on to you, as if your stress and anxiety is your problem. They preach they advocate health and well being - i saw multiple colleagues that left due to their mental health after working here. Dont expect to be paid on time, or for your pay check to be correct! No appreciation for if you actually reach targets or help out at all. Job advancement? They constantly change your working role- so how you can advance from that I dont know. As a whole- it has real potential to be good and treat ALL staff well, shame it has such an awful culture and management.

Cons

lack of communication from management, unattainable targets, poor training, systems that aren't functional

Thank you for your feedback and I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t had the best experience at Goodlord. We aim to provide a culture where people can thrive in their professional and personal lives and it’s not great to hear that this wasn’t the case for you. One of our values is that we ‘listen, learn and improve’, and I’m sorry to hear that you felt your feedback wasn’t actioned when expressed to managers. This is something that we would be keen to understand in more detail. I am also curious to understand your comment about unattainable targets and the role changes experienced. Our Referencing employees are measured on productivity and quality and many achieve these targets with ease and we also have a dedicated training team in Referencing, but if you have any further feedback you would like to share we would love to hear it (people@goodlord.co). - Lydia, People Coordinator

Pros

- surrounded by incredible/talented/intelligent colleagues - given projects outside of your job description to grow your CV & Experience which will make you stand out to future employers. - 121 sessions with a Sanctus mental health coach is the greatest benefit offered, Goodlord truly care about your mental health and Sanctus is testament to this. - There is a positive atmosphere that has remained throughout the pandemic and working from home, with our team socials & slack channels. -All are welcome at Goodlord, no matter where you come from or what your background is and I truly feel like part of the family.

Cons

If there were any I would tell you.

Pros

Lovely culture - relaxed, trusting, transparent. The office has a great atmosphere and we're taken care of, sooo many snacks! Everyone genuinely gets on really well and makes working at Goodlord fun. Lots of effort to continuously improve, no matter what level of seniority you are you feel included in the journey. Open, informative and entertaining company huddle happens once a week. I have a good work life balance with hybrid working hours which is super important to me, and I never feel pressure to work late to get the job done - I'm trusted to manage my own time.

Cons

Company benefits could be better
