Pros

The work is and can be interesting and noble with Fraud detection

Cons

HORRID management from top to bottom. I worked in the Data Architecture group in Mclean. We literally have managers with Bi-Polar disorder who often lie and are not competent to run anything . They lack the understanding the technology

Pros

The mission is critical to the security of America, which makes the whole situation even more difficult to accept.

Cons

The environment is toxic with high turn-over and poor management. Government employees are either completely passive or hostile to the contractors. Some of the government leaders are argumentative, unfriendly and impossible to work with. Others are timid and quiet with the goal of avoiding conflict and staying out of the way. And there is plenty of conflict. If the government is not firing contractors, they are harassing them to the point that they quit.

Pros

This company has a very exciting mission to help the world to become a better place by sharing the data.

Cons

This was most interesting place that I had worked at. If Glassdoor offers the "like" function, then I would click on "like" for each review that had been posted. To me, FinCEN had been frozen in time, the IT department was operating more like my first project (1995) than my recent projects. Then I found out, most of the clients had been working there 10-20 years, so they become a very enclosed community and run things in their own way. Nobody wants to change or step out of their comfort zone, so obey and follow the commands. Schedule was everything even with additional scope added. Of course, patience and thick skin were required to work here; expect that your intelligence will be questioned, your ability will be challenged and your ego will be destroyed.
