A Sad Truth

Pros

I worked as a designer at Fesco for just under 2 years. The pros of working at Fesco are few an far between. Honestly the only pros I can think of from my time here was the weekly pay check, and the friends I made while suffering through day to day life in this repressive environment.

Cons

Toxic work environment from the top down. Management is extremely inept and makes up for there lack of experience and talent with scare tactics to keep those below them "inline". If you are a creative person not just looking for your next pay check to get by this place is not for you. Time lines are short and the design taste is far out of date with no chance of ever changing. Oh and if you want to use your "vacation days" good luck while they claim to give 2 weeks paid vacation to all employees that is a joke since they force you to use one week of your vacation for Passover if you are Jewish or not. Hope you enjoy using those 5 days of actual vacation they provide. Making salaried employees finger print scan in and out in the morning and at night. If you are late they doc your pay and if you stay late you don't get overtime that seems fare. And lastly watching management put a chicken in a box as a prank and then let the cleaning woman suffocate it with a trash bag in the women's bathroom after they were done with it.........

Pros

I made some friends while I was there.

Cons

In so many ways I felt undervalued and unappreciated. The work rate was so demanding and I fought so hard to find creativity but the way the design department and the company culture is set would leave you drained, confused, in the dark, did-attached from reason and business sense. Designers get no help or insight into what works, they are left to create work with blind directions and then get talked down at as if you had all resources to achieve success. This company calls itself a tech company but by no means do those at the top make any effort to modernize any aspect of the operation, the internal and external branding is the worst I’ve ever seen. Moral is so low, the only people that last are those that are dedicated to their families and ignore everything around them in the workplace. The outreach the company has is lack luster at its best, sales can’t grow or build any significant partnership, ownership takes no responsibility, design and product development are tied in a slow laborious process with built in walls to block collaborative solutions and seamless efficiency. It’s really such a waste, it was built to it’s state by the founder and efforts of partners but the ownership has done next to nothing in bringing it into a new evolution, they simply have dropped the ball, and now anyone who works there will pretty much be guaranteed zero involvement in any sort of significant project. I’d give this place a negative score if I could, the only pro I can list is that I learned everything I don’t want from a job, I learned everything I don’t want in a boss, I learned everything I don’t wish upon anyone. My advice to the poor soul that has to accept this job is lay low, stay vigilant for an opportunity to come, and never by any means, give this place your trust, talent, and dedication.
