Not at all a pleasant work place. The company success is based on several acquisitions at zero cost and their "restructuring" with a consequent reduction of personnel. More, thanks to the “Jobs Act”, the current behavior is to offer early retirement incentives to fire the older professionals and hire cheaper (and unprofessional) workers. In general, Engineering policy could be summed up in "cutting labor cost". There is very few attention to the professionalism and to the products quality, the only goal is the gross margin as high and as soon as possible. And it is much easier to reduce wages rather than increase the value of poor products and services. Management level is under the table, knowledge sharing (seems to be) forbidden, system tools do not exist or, if any, nobody has an idea about them.
Every single act of HR is vs. employees and not for them: overtime, availability and travel time not paid, reducing of travel allowance, outdated work tools (BYOD!), introducing of remote control instruments (video cameras and software demons), cancelling of trade union agreements, incentives to resign, dismissals for "economic reasons" and all in the name of a profit for the company increasing 20% YOY. Unfortunately, job opportunities in Italy are less and less, despite of government announcements, and workers must make the best of a bad lot.
