Since PE investment in late 2021 the company has really gone down hill. Lots of turnover, very high pressure, and a general toxic environment. Lots of legacy staff who saw the company grow from start up (who were great) left before the PE investment (a sign of things to come?) which led to serious mismanagement across various teams within the company, and a general lack in communication, direction, and management company-wide. Lack of communication, direction, and clarity from management. CEO is a rockstar. CRO was useless and lasted 6 months. CFO largely absent. CPO was amazing, though (genuinely inspiring).
HR team pretty much non-existent which made reporting inadequacies impossible. Management and C-suite tended to remove themselves from general office and keep themselves to themselves, often socialised with themselves gave the impression of ‘one rule for them, another for the rest us.’ Seriously not an enjoyable place to work at all. No social life. No socialising with the team or company-led activities.
Also - ‘Work from home’ policy is not what it seems - lots of pressure to go into the office (which is old and horrible and the toilets smell). It’s 2022 let people wfh!
This is the first negative review I’ve left of a company I’ve worked at, which is a real shame, but I feel the need to warn prospective employees. SmartTrade has a lot of very intelligent and talented employees, but the company is toxic. Get out before it implodes.
