Not your average workplace - Anonymous employee iRadio Employee Review

Creativity was really encouraged here. Management has improved drastically over the years. Learnt a lot working there, really managed to hone in on my skills. Management encourage you to enter for a lot of awards and when you win or are shortlisted, it works wonders for the CV. As i said in the title, no day is ever the same! They managed to keep a startup company running to profit during the biggest recession in recent history. I wouldn't say it was perfect working there, but I wouldn't have stayed there six years if I didn't enjoy it. I think some of the other comments below are a wee bit harsh. When i was leaving the management were very supportive of my decision, even when i was making my mind up on whether to leave. (maybe they wanted rid of me, but i still appreciated it).

Location, location, location. I'd still be working there if they were still in Galway. Athlone is a tough town to live in if you are not from there or don't have family there. They can be pretty unforgiving with mistakes, which i guess is right though since it is live radio and clients that are involved. But if you are not prepared to take a bollocking or own up to your own mistakes, then you may as well not apply.

My writing skills were improved by this company, due to over work and short timelines in which to get stuff done. Whatever bad things are said about the company, they are willing to let creativity flow which in turn wins awards.

Where do I start. Management leave a lot to be desired. They will talk about other members of staff in front of you, so I am then presuming that they are talking about you too in front of your peers. There are far too many chiefs and not enough little indians in this place. Though strangely enough all of the chiefs come from the Programme Directors Circle of friends. There is not any room really to grow within the company and they seem to reward laziness. Pay is horrific, no offence to the retail but if you want money you might as well work in a chipper as they pay better. Plagiarism is a problem there too as your ideas will often be passed off as somebody elses. The location leaves a lot to be desired but that isn't really the companies fault I guess, and i did choose to live there.
