Pros

Attractive benefits program. Work/life balance is usually respected if you are firm about it, with some exceptions like any job. The company-supplied desktop/laptop computers and telephones are decent. Decent cubicle furniture. Grounds, elevators and vending machines are maintained. The network is fast. VPN works well. Printers and copiers are always in peak condition. Video conferencing around the world works well. The Rochester campus has the upper tier cafeteria service from AVI (Webster is another story). Corporate ethics are a high priority. The company contributes to many charitable causes.

Cons

Pay is at the low end of the scale. When you go from contract to hire, your pay will go down. Raises are non-existent or less than cost-of-living. Bonuses are unheard of unless you're in sales or executive positions. Have to submit yearly blood tests to prove non-smoker status or pay extra for health insurance. Parking in downtown Rochester, NY costs $$, not an issue in Webster, NY. Webster is all converted factory spaces and has almost no natural daylight anywhere. You may never actually meet your boss in person due to the global nature of the company. Aging employee base, at least the ones in the US. The older men and women say things like "You're too young to work here. Don't rock the boat, I'm five years away from retirement. You're just a kid, you'll understand someday. I'm too old to learn anything new." People who have poor Office skills are frequently in charge of meetings, so you sit on Webex and watch people who earn way more than you struggle with the one suite of programs they should know how to use for their job. Outsourced a lot of IT to India, so you have to understand their cultural idiosyncrasies to understand why it takes 5 layers of approvals and 1 week of waiting to get a ticket resolved on a server. Poor project management leads to multiple-year revolving-door (at both Xerox and external vendors) projects ending in failure or too many compromises to be proud of the resulting final product, where all still-employed people who worked on it may wind up in a production support role for months or years in addition to their regular jobs. Averse to using any software released within the past several years, causing IT to frequently have to support end-of-life products for years.
