Pros

- Above-market compensation and a meaningful monthly cash rewards scheme - Excellent benefits including healthcare, generous holidays, and team events - Talented colleagues and interesting technical challenges - High ownership and autonomy in the work I worked at Xcelirate until 2025 and overall it was one of the most rewarding professional experiences I’ve had. From my experience, the truth is that Xcelirate is a great company, but it is not an easy place to work. The expectations are high and the pace can be intense. People take their work seriously and the quality bar is high, especially in engineering and product work. Feedback was often direct and teams were trusted with a lot of ownership and responsibility. For me, that was a positive; it meant you were surrounded by capable colleagues who cared about doing things properly. What made it worthwhile was how much the company invested back into the team. Compensation was genuinely above market and the benefits and perks were some of the best I’ve seen. There were generous holidays, regular team activities and days out, family-friendly events, branded merchandise, strong healthcare coverage, and a monthly cash rewards scheme that could significantly boost your income on top of salary. The work itself was also meaningful. You could see the impact of what you were building, and there was a real sense that the team was solving interesting problems together. It definitely wasn’t a place where you could coast, but if you enjoy a fast-moving environment with high standards and strong rewards, it was a fantastic place to grow.

Cons

The pace and expectations can be intense at times.

Pros

While the compensation and benefits may be a little above average for the market, and overall perks were an attractive compensation, the work environment , culture and way of working made it difficult to see a sustainable long-term fit.

Cons

The working experience is challenging due to team structure and culture. The development team lacked clear management and better processes, with a strong and bad influence from a single individual mosly. Feedback and code reviews are often delivered in a confrontational manner, focusing heavily on minor issues while offering limited guidance or collaboration, under the assumption that seniority alone should cover all decision-making. This dynamic significantly impacted team morale and collaboration. Practices that typically foster knowledge sharing and quality, such as pair programming or open technical discussion, were discouraged, and communication within and outside the team was often restricted. Sadly the soul advice given to overcome these issues was to encourage others to adapt rather than resolving the underlying problems. Ultimately, I decided to leave in search of a healthier team environment with clearer leadership, constructive feedback, and a stronger emphasis on collaboration and shared responsibility.
