Pros
World family was a cool place to work. I made some really good friends and management were very helpful. They were strict, at the start I couldn’t really understand why, but then I found that it was me being tardy and not trying my best that was the cause of a lot of issues. Once I fixed them (with their help) I was able to become a much better teacher than I was. Plus the holiday, PAID, yes paid holiday I could go to the Hawaii and surf 4 times a year and go back to see my friends and family at Christmas. It’s a really good company to have on your CV. I’m certainly a much better teacher now. I renewed my contract for another year and left only to study my MA in Teaching in Hawaii. - I worked for Disney! - Strict but fair. Everything they do is for the benefit of the children and the evolution of your teaching skills. - I got to surf a lot and still got paid. - Great atmosphere, there was always someone to help me if I required it, and a good educational vibe. - Great locations. - Don’t have to work every morning. I only worked 3 morning a week and it was so nice being able to sleep in the other days.
Cons
- At first you get a total curriculum overload, but they took the time to slowly explain it to me which was helpful. - Need to get into the habit of being on time with your work (to be fair, deadlines were fair and it was me leaving things till the last minute). - You don’t get paid if your sick, but you do get extra pay if you cover for someone.
