Pros
I have been here for 6 months now in my current role. I previously worked here in another role a few years ago. Things have improved since 2021 for sure. Pros for Wise: Decent pay for the role and work load, good benefits (working from home, insurance, days off, travel perks etc), semi-flexible work schedule options (role reliant!), usually a really lovely team and coworkers, and very good office amenities. I like working here, it is pleasant, i feel mostly supported in upward growth, the training was thorough and I didn't feel particularly rushed or pressured (more on that later). Wise has a good company culture, for the most part, and I do believe that the pros outweigh the cons and I would and will continue to work here and try to apply for further roles as my skills improve. It really is a good and supportive workplace for a corporate standard. Diversity is generally pretty great, though do NOT expect the company to take a stance on any political situation as they will not. The most supported to least supported minority list would be (not exhaustive): Women, LGBTQ+, POCs, Muslim Wisers, Disabled Wisers, Parents, ADHD or Autistic Wisers, Other religious Wisers, and from what I see, the least supported is Jewish Wisers. I am part of at least three of these groups, so support will vary depending on which part of me needs it. Remember, least support does NOT mean no support, we still have support but there is definitely a favouritism aspect to who gets the best support. Do not be mistaken, this job is just like every other corporate job; management sucks sometimes, not everything makes sense, and the corporate mindset is definitely a big factor. However, it is the healthiest corporate space I have worked for, the best benefits, and the best company culture, and I do really enjoy working here.
Cons
Cons for this are specific but wide-spread. Wise has a habit of luring in new workers by dazzling them with their 'new and fresh' approach to the corporate world, but it is just the difference between a hotel bed and your bed at home, both do the job, but one feels fancier cause it is wrapped up in a pretty package. Wise has management mismatches as all corporate companies do, a contradictory and not up-to-date knowledge source (largely due to the sheer size of it), lots of frequent changes that didn't seem to come from anywhere or ended up being a downgrade of day to day work flow, and from what I can see has an equal amount of long time employees and high turnover rate employees but it is dependent on roles. This job is fulfilling for me, but I went into it knowing the stress, it is downplayed heavily for the entirety of training and you really don't get a sense of just how much you have to do to keep KPIs and performance metrics in the green until you are about 1.5-2 months in, where it gets a bit scary to try and keep good quality, good speed, and good work-life balance all at once. I definitely feel like I can keep a good work-life balance though, but it is definitely not the same for everyone. Diversity, while good here, is not fully encompassing and seems to have favoritism.
