Pros

Able to advance. Wage will increase steadily. You will likely receive accreditation in forklift operating, overhead crane, cpr. Getting your Class-1 drivers license happened to a few guys. Equal opportunity for men. Indigenous, Black. Hispanic. Your skin colour didn't really matter. Never saw a woman working the trucks. In general, the job is varied and exciting. New things everyday. The problems you will be required to solve are challenging and unique. Skills learned here are applicable to lots of different fields.

Cons

You will injure your back permanently! Everyone there had chronic back pain. My advice. Get an x-ray of your back on your first week of the job. The first time your back hurts, get another one. There is often a lot of peer pressure to lift hundreds of pounds. CYA. Everytime you are asked to lift something more than 90lbs, write it down. They have a very relaxed policy about drugs and alcohol. One of the senior movers was a chronic alcoholic. He had lost his license multiple times, couldn't drive for the entire time I worked there. More than a few times he showed up Saturday morning, still drunk from the night before and drove the forklift like it was no big deal. And the management knew. And it was no-big-deal. I called management one day to tell them one of the workers was really stoned and appeared to be on ketamine. I assumed ketamine since he loved telling us how much he loved ketamine. The management didn't care. They said just don't give him anything to do. In the end, don't trust Wingenback. They know you will not be there permanently and treat you as such. You will get very little compensation for an injury. Your well being will not be thought of. If you work here, it's up to you to protect yourself. Also, the environment is toxic. You will try your best, and do work that you are proud of, but you will not be recognized by your employer and only occasionally recognized by your co-workers. Management will often throw you under the bus in various ways. Their favourite is to send you to a jobsite with incorrect information and then blame any issues that arise on you. And then you will go home feeling exhausted and undervalued.
