Pros

You do not have to check in members, handle paperwork, deal with marketing, clean floors, do laundry, etc. Instead, you get to focus on the class and sharing yoga with members. They have all the props you would need for a class and maintain everything nicely.

Cons

Because they are associated with the hospital, on-boarding is time consuming before you start. They required a drug test and cut a small section of hair to test it (instead of a urine screen).

Pros

Better than having no job at all.

Cons

Where to start? Other reviews seem to have addressed the main points, but I'll provide corroboration. Nothing matters here except revenue and profit. All decisions are made by first thinking, "What can we do to make money?" and working backwards from there. This culture starts at the top and reverberates down through the bloated ranks of middle managers. There is so much pressure to generate revenue placed on managers, they find themselves acting in ways they might not otherwise, such as pushing employees to SELL SELL SELL instead of educating and developing them. Employees also react to this stress by constantly gossiping and bringing their co-workers down to make themselves seem better by comparison. It's an incredibly stressful, toxic workplace. All this at a Wellness Center! The contradiction is insane. Employees who attempt to address concerns with HR are treated coldly, and concerns are falsely addressed while the management team actually closes ranks and works to get rid of the "problem" employee. This employee can then be blamed for anything going wrong that was remotely related to them. Do you have a master's degree in Exercise Science? Congratulations! Here is $12/hour to work on the "fitness floor" while you try to sell personal training. If you're a member here and reading this--you only matter to the Wellness Center because you have money they can take.
