If you're looking for mission-driven work, look elsewhere. If you're looking for respectful HR leadership, sprint away. I'm an ex-employee of Wesley Homes that would not recommend working at this non-profit to anyone, especially not for a corporate role. This organization prides itself on union busting, not offering tenured employees raises to match newly hired staff with similar experience, micromanagement, and a host of other nauseating behaviors that are best left in the 'good ol boys club'. From Dec 2023 to March 2025, I worked in the Human Resources function and cannot express the lack of empathy towards employees that I witnessed. If you get into a car accident and text your boss a picture of the accident, you'd be foolish to expect him to ask how you are. The same goes for if you're sick. During my time there, working from home was criticized due to optics. You were granted one day per week of work from home time, but this was liable to be cancelled on a frequent basis due to on-site meetings. If you decide to work for this company, please ensure you get all promises about your compensation and other key matters in writing. Know that as of now, you will have to pay 100% for your spouse to be covered under your health insurance. The vacation time is combined with sick leave and will be deeply disappointing to anyone who has worked at a modern company. Lastly, I'm anticipating that the leadership of Wesley will comment to try and discredit me. I will be very clear - I was issued a corrective action form (not a PIP) prior to my departure. I had already secured another role and let my decreased morale impact the quality of my work. That does not mean that anything in this review is anything less than candid and wholeheartedly true. If you don't believe me, read some of the other reviews. P.S. For a bonus activity, if the HR VP tells you that he made 60k a year in his first role out of grad school to make you feel guilty about asking for a raise, use an inflation calculator on that amount (adjusted for the location). It's a real treat!
