Pros
As a very small industry, you will work on projects from all around the globe and meet people from well known companies. Not everyone can point at a helicopter and say, “I made these parts for that aircraft.”
Cons
During my decade and a half working there I came to the realization that most of the people in technical roles had no business being in those roles - most were hired during a period of time where cronyism ran rampant. There had not been a single new product successfully brought from development to full production since the early 10’s. The people that knew how to build new products are retired or dead. Now there is tremendous opportunity to revitalize a dying foundry, but it will require wholesale changes and bringing in experienced Engineers.
