Cons
The very worst thing about working at Walmart is the insane attendance policy. Every missed shift is an attendance point, and five points get you fired. Each point takes six months to be deleted. The PPTO given to counteract these attendance points is insufficient. If you get sick enough to miss a few days of work, you've basically already wrecked your attendance, and once your points are high it becomes incredibly difficult to get them back down. There are no real safeguards around getting fired just from getting sick, as the only real option is to apply for a leave of absence, which is intensive and obviously designed for "serious medical issues" and requires a doctor's note, which can be hard to obtain on short notice or expensive to get and may not cover more than a couple days anyway. It's like they don't understand that normal illness can knock someone out for a few days and expect you to come back to work before you reasonably should. If a multi-day illness doesn't at least partially overlap with your days off, you're probably screwed. The whole thing is dehumanizing. Aside from that, the work rate we're held to is wildly inaccurate to how quickly one can complete tasks if doing them correctly. It's obvious the time estimates were generated by people who have never done a thing on the floor. As a result, doing the job the way you're supposed to is disincentivized, and you'll only have a decent time if you prioritize doing things quickly over going them well. The job is underpaid and underappreciated, and you will be treated like garbage more often than not.
